ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS COMPLETED

Project reviews completed from July 15 to August 15 are listed below. These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species, and cultural and archaeological resources etc. Through the review process it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands Policy Act and cultural resource statutes.

  • Horseshoe Lake (Alexander Co.)
    0203943 - This project involves the Alexander County Highway Department constructing a secondary access road parallel to the existing East Side Drive. The new road will be at a higher elevation than the existing and will allow residents adjacent to the east side of the lake access to their homes during periods of high water. Project was submitted for review on 6-18-02.

  • Saline County Conservation Area
    0300694 - This project involves the siting and construction of a 6' tall statue of the indian chief Tecumseh by a local tourism group. Project was submitted for review on 8-6-02.

  • Hennepin Canal
    0300411 - This project involves the upgrading of existing access drives and parking lots at 15 locations along the canal. Work will include grading, adding base rock, surfacing, culverts, ditching, signs, sheel stops, bumper posts and seeding. Project was submitted for review on 7-19-02.

  • Kinkaid lake
    0300253 - This project involves the installation of new playground equipment at the picnic area of the Paul Ice Recreation Area. The play area will be approximately 36' x 64' and will include a concrete sidewalk for access. Project was submitted for review on 7-17-02.

  • Snakeden Hollow Fish & Wildlife Area
    0300490 - This project involves modifications to the existing dam and emergency spillway for Lake McMasters. Work items include the removal of the old spillway, relocation of the emergency spillway, construction of a drop box, spillway tube and concrete outlet in the main dam, reconstruction of the boat ramp, and raising the lake 5'. Project was submitted for review on 7-23-02.

  • Jubilee College State Park
    0107141 - This project involves the construction of a 100 unit equestrian campground at the site. Work items include roads, pads, electricity, water system, shower building, vault toilets, shelters and play equipment Project was submitted for review on 10-4-01.

  • Illinois Beach State Park
    107297 - This project involves the replacement of two (100' and 120') bridges on the nature preserve trails within the park. No excavations will be required and construction access will be by pick up utilizing existing trails. Project was submitted for review on 10-9-01.

  • Kickapoo State Park
    0300254 - This project involves the replacement of the existing wooden stairway extending from campground loop E down to Long Pond. In addition to the stairway, the project will include a fishing pier at the end of the stairway. The pier will extend along the shoreline for approximately 50' in both directions. Project was submitted for review on 7-16-02.

  • Sand Prairie-Scrub Oak Natural Area
    0300723 - This project involves the installation of a 12' x 8' sign in the northeastern corner of the preserve allowing the sign to be viewed from the intersection of Mason County Roads 900N and 1500E. Project was submitted for review on 7-31-02.

  • Interurban Bike Trail
    0300720 - Insight Communications has proposed to place an underground FiberOptic Line on the west side of the existing trail, beginning at a point 720' north of Plummer Boulevard extending in a southerly direction to a proposed vault then turning towards the west. The underground line will be directionally bored at a 48" depth. Project was submitted for review on 7-27-02.

  • Kinkaid Lake Fish & Wildlife Area
    0204281 - This project involves the construction of a 2.5 acre silt basin which will also serve as a fish rearing pond. A portion of the property involved is owned by the Kinkaid Reed's Creek Conservancy District. Project was submitted for review on 6-28-02.
