ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS COMPLETED
Project reviews completed from December 15 to January 15 are listed below. These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species, and cultural and archaeological resources etc. Through the review process it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands Policy Act and cultural resource statutes.

  • Crawford County SFWA
    0108369 - This project involves timber stand improvement activities at two forested tracts of land, totaling 35 acres. Vegetation to be removed will include elm, sugar maple, small hickory, and vines on crop trees. Project was submitted for review on
    12-5-01.

  • Sangamon Valley Trail
    0108370 - This project involves the utilization of
    IDNR R.O.W. for utility crossings along the Sangamon Valley Trail from I-72 to Jefferson Street. Project was submitted for review on 12-5-01.

  • Stephen A. Forbes State Park
    0108600 - This project involves the repair of 110' of eroded hill side trail by constructing a trail stairway throughout this section. Project was submitted for review on 12-10-01.

  • Stephen A. Forbes State Park
    0108601 - The Kinmundy-Alma Fire Department will install a dry hydrant near the Lakeview Boat Ramp for emergency water withdrawal to fight fires in the area. Project was submitted for review on 12-5-01.

  • Red Hills State Park
    0108382 - This project involves the removal of woody cover that has encroached on food & cover plots at nine locations in the southwest portion of the park. In addition, trees will be planted on 1.8 acres in 3 fields around the Nature Preserve and 2 acres of herbaceous old-field vegetation will be allowed to revert to shrub thickets. Project was submitted for review 11-19-01.

  • Ramsey Lake State Park
    0108375 - This project involves resurfacing all existing roads and parking areas. In addition, parking areas will be reconfigured and some portions of existing roads will be converted for trail use .A small loop road will be constructed at the equestrian campground. Project was submitted for review on 11-26-01.

  • I & M Canal
    0108372 - This project consists of drilling two monitoring wells on the canal property to collect samples for polynuclear aromatic carbons. The wells will be hand-augered to a maximum depth of five feet. Project was submitted for review on 11-30-01.

  • Rock Cave State Natural Area
    0108383 - This project consists of the construction of a 45' x 45' gravel parking lot to accommodate 3 cars at the site. The area used for the lot will be approximately 300' north of Township Road 2500N. Project was submitted for review on 11-14-01.

  • Falling Down Prairie
    0200004 - This project involves the construction of a 6-car gravel parking lot for hiking access. The lot will be enclosed with a guard rail to prevent motorized vehicles from trespassing into sensitive areas. Project was submitted for review on 12-20-01.

  • Fox Ridge State Park
    0108374 - This project involves the construction of a new volleyball court west of the new Goble picnic shelter. Project was submitted for review on 11-27-01

  • Coleta Trout Ponds
    0108677 - This project will involve the removal of accumulated silt from the 3 one acre trout ponds at this site. The ponds will be restored to their proper depth, the main drain valve will be replaced, and the surrounding banks will be shaped and seeded. Project was submitted for review on 12-20-01.

  • Hanover Bluff
    0108678 - This project involves the construction of a 6- car gravel parking lot to access the Kopper Tract for hunting and fishing. The lot will be enclosed with a guard rail to prevent motorized vehicles from trespassing into sensitive areas. Project was submitted for review on 12-20-01.

  • Weldon Springs
    0108674 - This project involves the extension of a water and power line from the existing well east of the lake to the new handicapped accessible fishing pier. One new fountain, electrical outlets at the fishing pier, and lights for the flagpole will also be added. Project was submitted for review on 12-24-01.

  • Argyle Lake State Park
    0108595 - This project involves the demolition of the existing concession building at the site and erecting a dismantled concession building from Starved Rock State Park. Also included in the work will be a 10 car parking lot, sidewalks, outdoor seating and vending machines. Project was submitted for review on 12-20-01.

  • North Point Marina
    0106779 - This project entails renovation to bring buildings and site improvements into compliance with ADA guidelines. Project was submitted for review on 9-24-01.

  • Giant City State Park
    0108672 - This project will replace all existing concrete bollard light fixtures around the Lodge and Cabins. Project was submitted for review on 12-27-01

  • Stephen A. Forbes State Park
    0107769 - This project involves timber stand improvement work in the form of mast crop tree release at the site. The work will be accomplished on 10 acres of ground per year for the next 6 years. The goals will be to release both hard and soft mast, retain den trees, and reduce undesirable species. Project was submitted for review on 11-5-01.

  • llinois Beach State Park
    0009361 - This project involves the removal of approximately 930' of 6' high cyclone fence at the site. Project was submitted for review on 12-14-01.

  • Walnut Point State Park
    0108367 - This project involves the addition of buried electrical service to six additional trailer campsites at the site. Project was submitted for review on 12-11-01.

  • Pere Marquette State Park
    0200071 - This project involves a revision of the route of the previously approved equestrian trail at the site. The revised section has been rerouted to utilize almost all of an existing historic roadway that runs through the cabin sites around the ridge to the existing trail. Project was submitted for review on 1-3-02.
