ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEWS

COMPLETED


Project reviews completed from October 15 to November 15 are listed below. These projects have been screened through the internal environmental review process for potential impacts on wetlands, threatened and endangered species, and cultural and archaeological resources, etc. Through the review process it was determined that environmental impacts have been kept to a minimum and mitigated as necessary and that they do not meet the criteria for significant actions as defined in the environmental review process and may proceed. All of these projects are in compliance with the Endangered Species Protection Act, Natural Areas Preservation Act, Interagency Wetlands Policy Act, and cultural resource statutes.

I & M Canal

9902488 - This project entails the installation, by directional boring of a 60' long 8" drain tile under the canal reserve and trail. The tile will drain into the canal and eliminate standing water in an adjacent landowner's agricultural field. The trail's use will not be interrupted. Project was submitted for review on 10-5-99.

Nauvoo

9902492 - This project provides for the construction of a combination shower/toilet building at the site. Additional development items include a parking area that would accommodate 5-7 autos, concrete curbing, concrete sidewalk and patio area, site grading and drainage improvements, security lighting, utilities and phone service signage, and landscaping. Project was submitted for review on 10-3-99.

Prophetstown State Park

9901481 - This project entails the use of rip rap to build a wing dam just upstream from the boat ramp on the Rock River at mile 49 in the Park. The dam will be 50' long and 15' wide and will be sloped the same as the boat ramp. Project was submitted for review on 8-30-99.

Tunnel Hill Trail

67352 - The Saline Valley Conservancy District has requested permission to construct and maintain 2 watermain connections on IDNR property. The areas disturbed for their placement will not exceed 20' x 60' and will run perpendicular to the existing trail. Project was submitted for review on 6-10-99.

Illini State Park

9900731 - This project involves the dredging of the boat cove to a depth of 5 feet and will include the construction of a silt basin for the dredged material from both the cove and the Ballard Island Channel. Project was submitted for review on 8-3-99.

Beall Woods

9900648 - This project provides for the construction of a new sanitary sewer force main between an existing sewer and the park's lift station. Approximately 4,250' of 8" pipe will be installed by open trenching under portions of the existing and abandoned Wadsworth Road. The existing sewer will be plugged and abandoned in place. Project was submitted for review on 6-30-99.

Cave in Rock State Park

9901477 - This project will expand lodging and restaurant services at the site. Approximately 10 additional lodging units will be added and the seating capacity of the restaurant will be increased. Improvements will also be made to the road alignments in the lodge area, parking areas, and lighting. Project was submitted for review on 8-30-99.

Hennepin Canal

9902081 - This project involves the rehabilitation of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad bridge #3 over the canal. Project was submitted for review on 9-20-99.

Golconda Marina

9901473 - This project will expand facilities at the marina which may include the addition of more slips, parking, marina structural repairs, basin dredging, road realignments, and rip-rapping of embankments. The marina basin will be expanded to the west by approximately 1.75-2.0 acres. Project was submitted for review on 8-25-99.

Kankakee River State Park

9902005 - This project involves the installation of two water hydrants and underground water lines to service two campground host campsites that are located in the Potawatomi Campgrounds Oak Loop. Trenches will be cut parallel to the campground road and camp pad edges to route the new lines to the two campsites. Project was submitted for review on 9-14-99.

Sam Parr

9902078 - This project will install a new 35' x 65' playground at the White Oak Picnic Area at the site. A new 60' x 5' concrete sidewalk will be included in the work. Project was submitted for review on 9-14-99.

Beaver Dam State Park

9902198 - This project will add two tent camping sites along with two 16' x 25' parking areas in the youth group camping area at the site. Two fire blocks and grills will also be included in the work. Project was submitted for review on 9-28-99.

Beaver Dam State Park

9902196 - Same as above only work will occur in the tent camping area and some leveling for one site will be required. Project was submitted on 9-28-99.

Apple River Canyon State Park

66228 - This project involves a variety of undertakings to bring the site into ADA compliance. Actions include work on accessibility to the office, toilets, telephones, shelters, drinking fountains, campsites, trails, and playgrounds. Project was submitted for review on 5-12-99

Randolph County F&WA

9902491 - This project involves the relocation of three sections of equestrian trail due to severe erosion. The three relocations (1200', 800' and 400') will be to areas of lesser grade. The new trail segments will be 10' wide and the trees along the trail will be trimmed to a height of 12' above ground. Project was submitted for review on 10-3-99.

I & M Canal

9902487 - This project will pave the approach to the trail in the Channahon Park District with 2" of bituminous surface. The area to be paved is 90' in length by 8' in width at the base and 12' at the intersection. Project was submitted for review on 10-5-99.

I & M Canal

9902486 - This project entails the construction of a 30' x 72' x 17' pole storage building at Channahon State Park. The building will be attached to the existing maintenance building and will include a concrete floor. Project was submitted for review on 10-5-99.

Cache River SNA

56638 - This project involves the development of a new visitors center for the Cache River Wetlands south of White Hill adjacent to Rt. 37. The work will include the visitors center, entrance road and parking areas, sidewalks, and other appurtenances. Other improvements will include trail connections, fixed or floating boardwalks, interpretive trails, and wayside exhibits. Project was submitted for review on 7-23-99.

Mississippi River Area

62081 - This project involves the development of old crop fields into wet mesic prairies. This will involve the installation of three gated culverts in the existing pump ditch and building two low level levees. Project was submitted for review on 1-22-99.

Randolph County

9902003 - This project provides for the relocation of the ADA hunting trail to an area north of the group campground entrance road. Developmental items include: 1 handicap parking space, concrete trail surfacing, concrete shooting blind pad, and signage. Project was submitted for review on 9-14-99.

Sangchris Lake

9902920 - This project entails the construction of a new 0.25 mile gravel roadway for hunter/ equestrian use on newly acquired property. Work items will include cutting and scraping of existing farm field and placement of two culverts to cross small ditches. Project was submitted for review on 10-29-99.

Red Hills State Park

9902197 - The local fire protection district has requested permission to install a dry hydrant at the park. The location is on the lake side of the dam and is directly south of the spillway gate and overflow structure. Project was submitted for review on 9-28-99.

Sam Parr State Park

9901565 - This project involves the construction of a new 20' x 20' storage/ bunk house building at the Ill. Natural History Survey biological station located at the site. Project was submitted for review on 8-30-99.

Silver Springs State Park

9902080 - This project involves the process of performing two geotechnical borings at the site. Project was submitted for review on 9-14-99.

Kaskaskia River

9902002 - This project provides for the relocation of the ADA foot trail from a location near the Dry Lake/ Dozia Creek Waterfowl Area to an area just north of the Wood Duck Marina Boat Ramp parking lot. Developments include: 1 16' x 25' handicap parking space, concrete trail surfacing, concrete observation pad, and signage. Project was submitted for review on 9-14-99.
