  Agency Resources

Several offices within the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) offer resources on freshwater mussels. The Division of Fisheries Resources regulates commercial mussel harvest in the state and licenses commercial mussel collectors and shell dealers. The Illinois Natural History Survey studies current mussel populations in the state and maintains a large research collection of mussels. The Illinois State Museum provides tours and educational services through the Education Section. The IDNR Division of Education has aquatic education materials available for use by teachers.
