A to Z from a Tree

These activities are based on the student activity sheet, A to Z from a Tree and have been developed with the Illinois Early Learning Standards as their foundation. When finished with a lesson, do not save the changes unless you want to start where you left off. For example, if the students unscramble the letters in the alphabetical order activity, and you save the changes, the letters will appear in the proper order the next time you open the file. If you do not save the changes, the letters will again be out of order when the file is next opened. If you accidentally save a file, you can just download the original file and start again or change the file yourself and save it.

Alphabet: There are two versions of the alphabet file: 1) you can see part of the alphabet on screen and can scroll to the rest; and 2) you can see the entire alphabet on the screen at once.

Illinois Early Learning Standards: 1.A.ECa, 1.A.ECd, 1.A.ECe

Alphabetical Order: This exercise asks students to look at groups of three or four letters and put them in alphabetical order. Letter groups are sequential through the alphabet.

Illinois Early Learning Standards: 1.A.ECa, 1.A.ECd

Alphabetical Order Level II: Students are given small groups of letters and asked to place them in alphabetical order. These letter groups are not organized sequentially through the alphabet.

Illinois Early Learning Standards: 1.A.ECa, 1.A.ECd

Find the Vowel: Students select the vowel from a group of letters and slide it into the answer box.

Illinois Early Learning Standards: 1.A.ECd, 1.A.ECe

Sorting: Students sort the pictures into two groups. The items in the first activity can be sorted into foods and musical instruments. The items in the second activity can be sorted into sports equipment and cleaning resources.

Illinois Early Learning Standards: 12.C.EC

What Is It?: Students identify the object and slide the appropriate word into the box.

Illinois Early Learning Standards: 1.A.ECa, 1.C.ECb

Rhyming Words: Students select the word that rhymes with the item shown.

Illinois Early Learning Standards: 1.A.ECa, 1.B.ECc
