- The
IDNR Divisions of Education and Habitat Resources
offer forestry-related educational materials including
posters, lessons, CD-ROMs, activities, trunks of materials
for loan, publications, and Web sites.

Project Learning Tree (PLT), administered by the IDNR
Division of Education and financially supported by
the IDNR Division of Habitat Resources, is also available
to educators. This award-winning national environmental
education program features hands-on activities that
inspire learning, demonstrate values and ethical dilemmas,
and involve students in local action projects.

The
IDNR Divisions of Education and Habitat Resources
also work cooperatively to conduct the annual Arbor
Day Poster Contest.

The
Schoolyard Habitat Action Grant program, administered
by the IDNR Division of Education, provides funding,
expertise, and tree seedlings for the improvement
of wildlife habitat on or near school grounds. Educators

Illinois Natural History Survey studies trees and
maintains a research collection of tree materials.

IDNR Division of Habitat Resources is authorized
by the State Forest Act to conduct an annual Seed
Collection Program. Collected seeds are used to
