SUMMARY
There are many different types of wetlands and a variety of ways
to define and describe them. The various attributes of any given
wetland are constantly changing. Because wetlands are not static
communities, efforts to classify, monitor, and manage them are
difficult to accomplish. It is, however, the diversity of wetland
types in combination with their dynamic qualities that makes them
extremely valuable and is the source of the many important functions
they perform.
